Vorwerk recognized with “red dot Award“

Vorwerk can look forward to an award for the design of the 2009 annual report. 15 judges reviewed and evaluated the 6,369 submitted applications of which only close to 10% were given the “red dot Award“. Since 1995 the “Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen“ in Essen has been honouring outstanding design. Today, the red dot Award is one of the world’s leading and largest design competitions. In three categories, the “red dot award: product design“,“red dot award: communication design“ and “red dot award: design concept“, about 13,000 submissions are being reviewed by the judges every year.

Vorwerk was able to grab the “Design Oscar“ because the 52 page annual report contained primarily playful elements and pictures in addition to the hart facts. The annual report’s theme “closeness“ already shows on the first page. Once opened, a drawn hand whose fingers can move, animates the reader to come closer. The theme runs through the entire report in the form of elements such as magnifying glasses, magnets, poems, quotes or typographic solutions. The creativity of the Wuppertal-based company continues online. At corporate.vorwerk.com an animated annual report can also be viewed.

The numerous submissions for the “red dot award: communication design 2010“ confirm the industry trend for the appreciation of artistic creation. “Despite the dramatic downturn due to the economic crisis and its aftermath we have registered yet another increase in submissions this year“, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award, sums up the current industry trend. “In the competition, the quality of the submitted work also indicates that once again more investments are being made in communication design. The evaluation requirement of the agencies seems to be continuously high”.

The winners are going to be recognized on December 8th, 2010 during a stylish award ceremony in the gala hall of the “Casino Zollverein“ in Essen. From December 9, 2010 to January 9, 2011 the red dot museum will show all winning pieces of art and with that impressively demonstrates that creativity has no limits: even an annual report can be entertaining! However, whether the revenue office is ever going to receive a red dot-Award because it developed a tax return containing playful elements still seems unlikely today because the only creative minds in this category are those who are filling out the tax returns...
